I don't like it when people leave voice messages. It's very expensive for me to listen to those lengthy messages , especially when you need to hear all this extra info about the time and date of the message. It would be great if there was a service where you can receive a voice message to your cell phone as a text message. There is already the voice recognition software so I don't see why that would be hard to do.

I don't understand why choosing a pretty young girl to sing the Chinese anthem in the Olympic ceremony over one with a better voice became such an issue all of a sudden. This was a show, nothing more nothing less. How many times doesn't something like this happen on any country's TV anywhere in the world? Lip-synch singing is an art in itself. Besides, beauty and aesthetics is important for a medium so visual as TV. What's the big deal, the organizers combined the nice voice with a pretty face, come on people, stop complaining. TV is all about appearances even when it's "live". How many famous newscasters you know will wear shorts or be naked from the waist down when they deliver the news to you? (read more)

Talking about horny thoughts! What about a website service where people from all over the world upload a message that would be heard when a taxi driver in China or India or any country in the world presses his or her car horn to warn a pedestrian. Car drivers will be able to download it via their mobile phones or via wireless internet and use it as car horn. It can be a ring tone or a person's voice with a message in your own language or in a foreign language. (read more)

"This is final call for passengers Graabir Boubi, I-Bin Pharteen and Awan Afuqya. Please come to the gate immediately your flight is boarding..."

Sometimes the problem is with a funny name but sometimes the problem is someone funny totally mispronouncing the name or adding their heavy ethnic accent to it. (read more)

How about a site where you can enter text and get it delivered back in the voice of a famous person? Maybe a comedian or the president or any other person you like that will mispronounce in that person's typical voice the favorite words, phrases or entire speech of your mom, friends, teacher, principal etc

What about never having to press buttons on your mobile phone to send an sms or email? With a speech recognition software you could record the message you want to send, the software converts it into text and then sends it as an sms, email or voice message.

As a senior citizen was driving down the freeway, his car phone rang. Answering, he heard his wife's voice urgently warning him, "Herman, I just heard on the news that there's a car going the wrong way on 280 Interstate. Please be careful!"

"It's not just one car," said Herman. "It's hundreds of them!"

Shouldn't all the higher-ups have a) caller id with a large database of pre-approved official numbers b) voice recognition c) video conference technology and d) a smart secretary that knows how to handle a,b and c before she answers the phone and e) if she cant' handle a, b, c or d then at least be able to place a call on hold/mute when she talks with her boss? :D aaaaa

If keyboards are replaced by speech recognition in the future, I think this will influence the way we speak and think in general. When you give commands to a machine using voice and speech, then you must be clear, precise and to the point otherwise you won't get anything done or it will be done wrong. Do you agree that the way we think gets influenced by the lifestyle we follow? If yes, don't you think speech recognition can have a big impact on the way we think? Or will the impact be only on how we articulate what we think?
