What about improving the hygiene when men use public pee-standing toilets by adding automatic rinse of the penis when done? While still standing, the water will pour from small holes on the rim of the urinal. There could also be an option to dry with air similar to drying hands after washing them. Will lead to better hygiene for men. Would men like something like that though? :) (read more)

Does it make any sense to you that restaurants provide soap for their customers to wash their hands but not toothpaste to brush their teeth? It doesn't make any sense to me but it seems to make perfect sense to restaurant owners all over the world.
Is there a reason that personal hygiene over a customer's hands is more important than his teeth's hygiene? I don't think that's the case and I also don't buy the argument that it costs too much to provide. I think people just don't think about brushing their teeth after finishing their meal. In my view, customers should start asking restaurant staff if they can use some toothpaste and a disposable toothbrush to clean their teeth. It'd be a good idea if people mentioned lack of toothpaste and brush as something a restaurant can provide in order to improve customer service. Am I the only one here that thinks it would be a great idea if restaurants offered toothpaste and a brush in the toilet so that customers can clean their teeth before leaving the premises?

Following the shoe incident with Bush in Iraq, press conference organizers are thinking of instituting new rules and manners. All participants will be asked to take their shoes off and wear paper-thin slippers. The measure is expected to improve the hygiene and ambience of the press room and make everyone relax and feel more comfortable. (read more)

in ozzieland double-dipping is considered bad-etiquette and bad-hygiene. personally, i have no problem with it. sometimes i can't be bothered and i will flip the back-end to double-dip but still people don't like it. i always wondered why they don't come up with containers that have partitions for double-dippers. the partitions could be colored so each person knows which one is theirs. double-dippers can dip freely without contaminating the container. i think it's a good idea and an easy one to do.

I'm thinking of automatic disinfectants on toilet door handles, knobs and pulls! The mechanism will automatically spray disinfectant every time someone opens or closes the door. This will improve hygiene in public restrooms, restaurants, airports, stations etc.. no need to cover the hands with paper or cloth when you pull or push the door to a public toilet...

I'm referring to cleaning dishes by hand. The British have a belief I find very weird. They think that after they clean the dish with soap, they can let it dry on the rack without rinsing it first. They think it is ok. Personally, I think this is bad hygiene. If the soap/detergent dries on the plate, chances are that the chemical will find its way in your body next time you eat on that plate. I read about good hygiene and how necessary it is to prevent the spread of viruses, germs and the flu and I am thinking, wouldn't it be a great idea if ATMs would sterilize/disinfect the ATM card and the cash we deposit and withdraw from them? ATMs won't save mankind from the next epidemic, fine, but that's one less source of spreading worms and germs around. And cash is dirty because not Everyone knows how to launder it properly. Corrupt leaders try hard to teach but the masses refuse to learn. Not everyone can be a good money-launderer so better sterilize the money supply :D

Nothing complex or expensive just a small sign saying "Woman-Inside" or something to that effect. Similar to existing signs posted outside public restrooms. Some places such as small restaurants or cafes offer single restroom space for both men and women to share which is extremely annoying to women due to men's habit of leaving the place in bad hygiene. I propose women carry the sign in their bags and post it before they get in so that men waiting outside to use the restroom don't impatiently knock on the door or keep trying the door handle. When the woman comes out, she grabs her sign and enjoys the sight of men wandering around in distracted confusion.

The topic can be somewhat embarrassing. Did you know that pubic lice is a sexually transmitted disease? When pubic hair comes into contact during sex, lice (also called crabs) can jump to your partner. It's not as serious as other STDs of course.
Usual condoms don't cover men's genital hair so there is a potential market for pubic hair condoms for std-conscious people as well as everyone else who is into novelty. The easy way to apply the condom if pubic hair is long and frizzy is to wet the hair with water first, tie it together with a small hair band and then apply a small size latex condom on top.
