What about installing an intranet system on commercial flights whereby passengers could text chat or play games with each other? Passengers could use live text chat to meet or talk to other passengers or play games with others on the flight without having to change seats to do that. Isn't a long flight more fun when you happen to be seated next to someone who is very interesting to meet and talk to? How often does it happen though? Instead of leaving it all to chance and serendipity, an intranet system that can connect each and every passenger in the same way online social networks and playing games do would make flights more fun and interesting.

Why do most people get up from their seats as soon as the plane lands and the fasten-your-seat-belt sign is off? Most passengers seem to prefer to stand in queue until the doors of the plane open. I have observed this behavior in all flights I make. Even passengers in economy who sit at the back of the plane prefer to wait standing. This is true both in long and short flights. I call these passengers imps, which means i-m-patiently-standing! What type of passenger are you?

I was asked the other day by a passenger who forgot to bring his book with him if there were any magazines or newspapers I could bring him to read. I was able to give him a few spare newspapers but I was thinking that in long flights airlines can come up with a way for passengers to swap with other passengers reading material (books, magazines, newspapers) that they brought with them and finished reading. Have Americans lost their minds? Here's a high-IQ question. Did terrorists take down all legal copies of Photoshop from FAA computers Or did they they just hack into officials' common-sense and replaced it with a sick sense of humor?
Before asking why it had to fly Low, I want to ask why Air Force One, escorted by two F-16s, had to actually fly over the New York skyline in order to take shots of the plane! Couldn't an intern edit the photo without authorizing an expensive photo-op flight over NY? I thought there is an economic crisis going on. These flights cost money and if they are not necessary they should not be authorized on economic grounds, not to mention New Yorkers sensibilities. (read more)

Boeing is working to make the first prototype of a hydrogen fuel cell craft by 2015. Hybrid planes of the near future could also use wind and kinetic power to supply extra energy. All flights take place above clouds where sunlight is strong and intense! What about using solar energy by covering the outer surface of planes with thin solar panel foils?

I am wondering why the airline companies don't provide parachutes during a flight? I think that this is a good way to increase the chances of survival in case of an accident. I suppose that it is possible to evacuate an airplane while it is flying, so probably you will be needing a parachute! Also, the idea of wearing a parachute makes people feel more confident that they could something to save themselves in case of emergency. So,it can help passengers feel more comfortable and safe and in that way can increase the number of people who like to travel.

I just arrived in Beijing flying with Air China on economy departing from Frankfurt. One would expect that in a 10 hour flight, in-flight entertainment would be provided. Well, there were no monitors on the seats and I didn't like the music programs they had either. I took out my iphone to keep myself busy and they told me to turn it off. Why doesn't Apple or Google install their new phones on flights who don't offer in-flight entertainment? An iphone costs $600, that times say 300 seats is 180K, let's say another 20K for installation costs and for a total of 200K the cell makers get to promote their gadgets to all passengers. I don't doubt every passenger will spend hours playing/tweaking the phone and by entertaining with movies, music, games, applications or web surfing we get a most positive experience and become pretty familiar with the product. If you bought an economy ticket that is not flexible and requires a penalty fee for changing the date of your flight there is no way around it. You must pay the fee and change your flight. What if all airline companies built up a new section in their websites that would allow people who bought tickets already and thinking of changing their flights find other customers who want to fly on their flight and exchange? There will be no fees paid and more flexibility will be given to all economy ticket customers.

This is for people who are not promiscuous or easily offended. It might help people with dehydration drink more during the flight. How about flight attendants dressed in sexy uniforms! Drinks served using straws attached on the clothes of flight attendants. If it's a woman, they are attached to her breast area, if its' a man where do you think women would prefer the straw was attached? No minors allowed of course, so I guess the name of the airline could be Major Airways! :)

Just after take-off and a few minutes before landing. That's a crazy idea of a musician friend of mine. It's not allowed of course but he asked me to ask people how they would feel if an airline offered a few minutes of in-flight live music. I think it's too difficult if not impossible to do on commercial flights but perhaps on a private flight it's possible. hmmm, I must admit that it's fun to imagine it. Flight attendants playing Mozart on the violin and other musical instruments before landing in Austria. That sounds so... Hollywood! Movies are definitely the place this idea can work well :)
