If we went into stores only when we needed to buy something, and once there we bought only what we needed, what will happen to the economy? Some people think it will collapse completely but how can that be the case if people are still buying things? An economy collapses when people stop buying altogether. If we start buying only what we need the economy will improve because it will be more predictable and therefore also more stable. What's your thinking on this?

I get the impression that president Obama is trying really hard to avoid a new recession for the US economy.

At the same time in other parts of the world there is a fast growth which doesn't occur in the US.

Do you think that would be the reason for a new recession anytime soon?

You can only plug your laptop if you fly business or first-class, but I certainly wouldn't mind it if I was asked to pay a few dollars more for my economy class ticket and have electric outlet for my laptop. I also think that since passengers can place calls during a flight, companies should make internet access available as well. When you fly on economy on a long flight, internet access and a laptop that works on the plug can make a big difference!

If you bought an economy ticket that is not flexible and requires a penalty fee for changing the date of your flight there is no way around it. You must pay the fee and change your flight. What if all airline companies built up a new section in their websites that would allow people who bought tickets already and thinking of changing their flights find other customers who want to fly on their flight and exchange? There will be no fees paid and more flexibility will be given to all economy ticket customers.

The way I see it the Greek economy has always been in technical default and thus in life support for many years now. We have been in life support for so long, we forgot about it and learned to live as if we didn't owe anyone anything. The only difference between then and now is that the hospital realized it's costing too much money to keep Greece on life support and for the first time there is discussion of pulling the plug. The patient is half-awakened by this talk but is not sure which is better. To stay on life support with the oxygen supply on economy or get a life without support but with the promise of experiencing it first-class again sometime in the future?

what a life

The Guru said. Please take a moment to contemplate with me the names of two of our nation's largest and most respected credit rating agencies.

Moody's...Standard And Poor's...Cheeze Everyone, that's the state of our economy.

Toxic, junk and AAA. Our beloved agencies gave the world the magic that turned all the former into all the latter. And I think to myself, what a wonderful world...The 70s saw the end of the gold standard. And now we see the beginning of the poor standard. But Don't worry, the Guru said. The Moody's They Are A-Changin'

Who can save the economy?

The message from the Obama team is that we have to reward people who add value to the economy by producing real products and services instead of rewarding bankers with sky-high bonuses and salaries which they haven't really earned nor they deserve. While I agree with the principle that people who add value to the economy should be rewarded and people who don't should not, I'm very confused by that message being repeated by Obama over and over. You may think Obama's message was good news for Israel, you may think that all Israelis will benefit by ending violence. Here are some facts about Israel's economy to inform your opinion in a way that is upsetting to us Israelis.

Israel has put counter-terrorism at the center of its export economy and its economy has been booming since September 2001. (read more)

nice speech but...

I hate when I complain about my job, and someone says, "Why don't you look for something else?" I don't want to look for something else. I want to stay in my comfort zone and bitch about this job. And anyway, the economy.
