I had to share this! You know about the rental bicycle programs, where you pay a fee and you can use any bicycle parked at various points in the city. There is usually a computer to automate the rental process. Well, a computer hacker in Zamora, Spain accessed the computer system and figured out how to play a porno movie on one of the bicycle stations. The free movie attracted a lot of visitors. I have in mind computer games made for terrorists and given to them for FREE! They will be games of destruction where the terrorists get to blow up anything they want and...here's the catch, they will always succeed. We wouldn't want to challenge a terrorist to blow things up for real out of game failure, would we?

I was thinking about small portable hard drives that include the operating system of your computer. That could also work with a memory stick. You go to a computer and instead of starting it with the default operating system you boot it with the system you have in your card which has your files in it.

I thought of this idea after reading bobo's frustration with wanting to build an iPhone application with a PC but not being able to do so. What if Apple allowed you to rent a Mac on the cloud? You go online, pay a reasonable price for a month's rent for a Mac and get an account. After logging in, you are welcomed to your Mac desktop screen. You may be using a PC in real life to go online, but once you are online you are working through a Mac! And vice-versa. The idea is to move from a concept of owning a computer and operating system to owning an account that lets you access and use any kind of computer. Magic, isn't it? :)

I read somewhere that concerned CIA officials have created a new organization called People for the Ethical Treatment of Americans (PETA). Throughout the world, incidents of mistreatment of Americans have been increasing at an alarming rate. Founded after 9/11, PETA operates under the basic principle that Americans are not ours to eat, wear, experiment on, or use for entertainment without their consent. I know its cheesy and maybe only a computer geek would understand the joke. But the idea came to me while my boyfriend was programming.

Some airlines (Delta, United, Virgin etc) are rushing to offer Wi-Fi internet connections in economy. Most people cite cramped space on the tray table as the major problem for laptop use in a flight but I think privacy is a more serious problem. Text chatting with my girlfriend or friends, I wouldn't want the guys sitting next to me reading what I write. We are all curious creatures by nature and easily tempted to read into everything that gets displayed on someone else's computer screen. (read more)
