If you are a genius and someone asks you for life advice thinking that because you're a genius you can give good advice, your responsibility as a real genius is to let that person talk a lot and sit there and listen. When they finish and ask you "what do you think I should do?", tell them that you don't know, that you don't have a clue what is the best thing to do. If the person who asked for the advice leaves the room thinking "if a genius doesn't know what to do, it's all right for me not to know what to do, so I'll do the best I can do", you've just proved you're a real genius.

i'm in 7th grade. i liked a guy. he was the nicest cutest guy ever. he liked me back. the only problem was that my bestfriend liked him too. and yes that was a BIG problem. he said he couldn't go out with me because of her. but then she said she didn't care anymore. i was about to go out with him but then one day he just randomly stopped talking to me. its been 3 days and we havn't talked. i asked his friends if he has said anything about me, but he didn't even mention me. why does he think its okay to do that to someone? leading a person and then just cutting it off like that can really hurt. i liked him alot and its hard to get over it.

Bicycles? Where you can get up to 15 miles round-trip- so for shorter distances or even longer ones like maybe 30? I don't know if that's possible. It'd be great I think if you live in the city for work and what not, I guess that would mean though that you would need some type of security "system" for it- that will be my next thought "security system ideas for bikes". Wish...Him...Happy Birthday. We know this will be an unusually difficult time for all the little kids of Greece singing the Christmas carols. I don't know about your country, but the tradition here is to offer money (haha) to kids when they sing the carols. We know Greece is cash-strapped but a tradition is a tradition and with the IMF and the Germans paying our salaries this year Greeks will certainly honour it. (read more)

What about a police style tazer that can hit a target from up to 15 feet away and when you push the button it automatically and silently calls 911 or on star- for protection. And needing to have it the product registered? or having to pay a small service fee? A few weeks ago, a friend of mine had someone break into her house and the topic of self defense came up. Any thoughts?

I was watching this movie from the 80's and I couldn't resist fantasizing what a weird help a shrinking machine would be for the Greeks. Instead of shrinking salaries, pensions and benefits, it would shrink everyone to 1/3 of their size. We all become little hobbits for a while. That means we consume 1/3 less and the rest is savings to pay back our creditors. Since we are shrinking ourselves and our needs down by two-thirds, we don't experience the cuts as something painful. When the debts are paid we shrink up to original size and life's normal again. The shrinking machine re-adjusts the needs of a nation in a non-painful way but since this can't happen in real life, the International Movie Fund steps in. They hire Malkovich to turn the fantasy into a new movie but Malkovich gives it the following twist. The re-sized Greeks like it so much in their hobbit land that they don't want to go back to normal size. They destroy the machine and the hopes of any nation downsizing pain-free thereafter. And everyone lives happily ever after...

My girlfriend asked me to abstain from masturbating even though our schedules are busy and our lifestyle doesn't permit frequent sex during the week. She doesn't have a problem with me masturbating once in a while and relieve built-up frustration. The issue is that when I get into manual mode, I overdo it. I can't stop indulging. That means that by the time we're ready to have sex on the weekend, I can't give it all I got. She's used to good sex from me and I can understand her feelings. I've thus thought to stop masturbating all together. While it's hard to abstain from manual labour when I feel sexually deprived, I want to give it a try. Make my mind wrest control over matter during the week so that matter can ultimately triumph over mind on the weekend. I don't know yet how I will give myself a hand with this when what I must do is keep my hands off it. How does one resist manual sexual labour without yielding to it? I don't know but I will think of something. In the meantime, I'm open to suggestions.

Some people will find this offensive. I can't help it. I was looking at numerous photos of children from parents who are both very good looking. An obvious observation is that while the children's level of beauty may not always match up to the level of their parents, they are still pretty good-looking. No "ugly" descendant strikes the eye as being, well, strikingly "ugly". Take the children of parents who are both intelligent and smart. Their children's intelligence will range from pretty decent to high. Now take two parents whose intelligence is very low and compare it with the intelligence their children are born with. Their children's intelligence will ALWAYS be higher than their parents'. (read more)

I thought of this idea after reading bobo's frustration with wanting to build an iPhone application with a PC but not being able to do so. What if Apple allowed you to rent a Mac on the cloud? You go online, pay a reasonable price for a month's rent for a Mac and get an account. After logging in, you are welcomed to your Mac desktop screen. You may be using a PC in real life to go online, but once you are online you are working through a Mac! And vice-versa. The idea is to move from a concept of owning a computer and operating system to owning an account that lets you access and use any kind of computer. Magic, isn't it? :)

To begin with, Israel peacefully asked the boats to unload the aid to the port of Ashdod so that the authorities could inspect it. They were assured they would then be free to continue their route to their final destination. This is standard protocol. There was no surprise here. (read more)
