Imagine that in the very long term (2050 and beyond) technology will allow people to link their brains to the machine world, perhaps using nanotech implants connected to each synapse to relay brain activity to a high speed neural replica hosted by a computer. When this technology matures, people will do wonderful things such as using machine sensors as extensions to their own capabilities. They will use android bodies to move around and experience distant places and activities as if they were there in person. (read more)

Even the most primitive cybernetic agent must be able to sense its environment in order to reach its goals. More complex agents can integrate different sensations into a global awareness of their situation, and use subsequent experiences to learn and improve their mental functioning. Only people are moreover conscious of their own experiences, and thus able to control them. Such consciousness is an eminently subjective relation between the agent and the relevant internal and external aspects of its situation. It is not some mysterious kind of substance or fluid, and there is no intrinsically "hard" problem of consciousness.

Philosophy tries to answer what the meaning Of life is. Psychology guides people to find meaning In life, the life they live in. I am not concerned with the fact that none of the two fields give entirely satisfactory and complete answers. I am pointing out that they look for answers in different directions. In the search FOR meaning, which of the two directions do you think is better to take? Please vote my poll below or leave your comments here.

To live it in the most fulfilling and happy way we can because if we don't we'll end up living the same unhappy life over and over again? Is that the meaning of life? or...death?? (read more)

please show me an obituary that says some bad things about a person. i bet there isn't any but if there was i would call that an honest one. why are we so nice to people in obituaries? does death deserve so much respect? bs! for every nice thing we include in an obituary we should also write a bad one. that's honesty. that's being fair to someone. if you think that's bs check the results below

Imagine that all of us are icebergs floating on the sea of enlightenment. As an iceberg, you look down into the sea of enlightenment and know that you want to be a part of it. Then you discover that you too are made of water, except that you are frozen. You're just like the sea. The only difference is the temperature. Then, if you have the courage, you begin to wonder why you are so cold. (read more)

I have the perverse habit, or morbid curiosity if you like, to read obituaries. They are our dead, found each day on the back page of the newspaper. There they are, all gathered, a squad of fresh explorers, heading into the great unknown. New faces, names and personal histories come and go on the obits every single day. Unlike a cemetery, where stones never change, the obits get restocked daily. They remind me of the evanescent quality and fleeting image of our lives. A minute browsing through the obits can be just as educational, if not more, than a visit to the church or local cemetery. Where to, everybody, where to?

GOD forgives people. If someone is sorry for their crimes then everything is forgiven. There isn't a short period of punishment in hell before you go to heaven. You're forgiven because you're sorry.
What about in real life? Let's say someone robbed a place. If he's really sorry then why does he have to go to jail? He should be forgiven. (read more)
