Under-inflated tires can lower gas mileage by 0.4 percent for every 1 psi drop in pressure of all four tires. Nitrogen-inflated tires will keep the tires of the car at the proper pressure much longer than filling them with air as nitrogen has larger molecules than oxygen. But how does car mileage improve and why? Can anyone explain the connection or is this a tip everyone keeps stupidly repeating? |
