What if the name given to us since birth was a temporary one? What if during our childhood years we could try different names, see which one suited us, pick the one we like and then register it as our first name?
Most, if not all of us are give a name since the day we are born. That name is not our choice, it is usually decided before we are born and we carry it for life.
Wouldn't it be a better idea to have the option to choose one for ourselves?
This thought came to me through talking with a new friend on Facebook. She had an interesting view on middle names and what they signify. Then it came to me, what if I grew up in a society which told me I can pick up the name I liked?
Not that I don't like mine. You know, you can call me James, James...

Some names have a meaning, some don't! Last names can reveal place of origin, profession, ancestry etc But what about first names? If there are names that don't mean anything other than just being a name, then I think it should not be illegal to name your child anonymous... |
